What is a Wordle Helper?

Wordle gives you six guesses to find a five-letter word. After each guess, you get color feedback: green for letters in the right spot, yellow for letters in the word but wrong spot, gray for letters that aren't in the word at all.

The Wordle Helper takes that feedback and gives you every possible answer that still fits. No more staring at the board for ten minutes wondering 'what could it be?' — type what you know, see what's left.

It works on the official NYT Wordle and any Wordle variant (Quordle, Dordle, Heardle's word puzzles, custom-domain Wordle clones). The dictionary covers ~2,300 real Wordle answers plus 12,000+ valid guesses.

How to use it

1. Enter the greens

For each of the 5 letter positions, if you have a confirmed green letter, type it in that slot. Leave the rest blank.

2. Enter the yellows

Below the position boxes, list any letters you know are in the word but not in those exact spots. Type them in a separate field.

3. Enter the grays

Add any letters you've ruled out. The Helper excludes any word containing them.

4. Hit Solve

You get every possible 5-letter answer that fits all your constraints, ranked by likelihood.

Examples

Example 1 — Day 4 of a hard puzzle

You've guessed CRANE, SLATE, POINT. From the feedback: • Greens: position 3 = I, position 5 = T • Yellows: N, A • Grays: C, R, E, S, L, P, O The Helper returns: GIANT, GAINT, AGAIN... a short list to try next. You'd otherwise spend 5 minutes brute-forcing it.

Example 2 — Stuck on guess 5 of 6

Greens: _ _ _ E R. Yellows: T. Grays: A, S, O, I, L, N, C, D. The Helper narrows it to: TIGER, OTHER (excluded — has O), TRYER... actually only TIGER fits. You play it, you win.

Example 3 — First-guess strategy

You haven't played yet. What's the best opening word? Type 5 blank positions, no yellows, no grays. The Helper ranks the top 5-letter words by letter frequency: CRANE, SLATE, RAISE, AUDIO, AROSE. These cover the most common English letters and give you the most info on guess 1.

FAQ

Does it work for French Wordle (Sutom, Tusmo)?

Switch to FR mode. We support 5-letter French answers from the ODS dictionary. Note that Sutom-style French puzzles often use variable word lengths (6-9 letters) — our 5-letter Helper handles the classic Wordle format.

Can I use it on the official NYT Wordle?

Yes. The Helper has no connection to NYT and doesn't read your game state. You just transcribe what you see (greens, yellows, grays) and we filter from public dictionaries.

Is using a Wordle helper cheating?

Wordle is solo. There's no leaderboard tied to your account, no opponent. NYT doesn't penalize tool use. Many players use a helper to learn new vocabulary or rescue a streak on a tough day. Use it how you want.

What's the best Wordle starter word?

Based on letter frequency analysis of all ~2,300 Wordle answers: CRANE, SLATE, RAISE, AUDIO, and AROSE. Each one eliminates the most possible answers in your first guess.

Does it support hard mode?

Yes — the Helper respects the constraints of hard mode automatically. If you've locked in greens or yellows, the suggested answers will always use those.
